Where Does Your Inspiration Come From?
When you’re seeking inspiration, where do you start? Usually, I’ll open a window, turn on some music, clean a room, and light a candle. By the time I’m finished, I’m usually ready to start something new or at least move on to the next room. This shelf is part of a storage piece in our dining area. I keep a collection of inspiring things there to spark my interest when other methods don’t work. Dutch Blitz to keep my family at the table for a few extra minutes after dinner, a Bible and a Hobbit Devotional for Tolkein loving family members, craft, cooking and design books in case I find a spare 10 minutes in my day.
Here’s my challenge to you: Spend a few minutes walking around and collecting a few items that bring you joy and inspiration. Think about them. What are the commonalities? What’s missing? How does it make you think about your life? Place them on a tray or arrange them on a shelf and use that to consider a goal you’d like to reach before the end of summer. If I were to look at the items I’ve collected, I’d say it’s important to focus on family time before my daughter flies off to college next month. Also, I’d like to focus a little more on my faith which is such an important part of my life, but honestly takes up so little of my day to day existence. I also have some school and business related goals I’m working on. What’s your goal? Want an accountability partner? Let me know! I’m here for you.
